Nitro Rock On
|
Nitro Rock On Call name: Rockie
Note from his owner: Rock On ran at Raynham until it closed then went to Naples, Fl until it shut down. He's on the shy side. He really needs to go into a foster home so he can get acclimated to new things. The kids have been catching and loving on him everyday trying to get him to warm up. He loves me because I'm the one who's always taken care of him so it's hard for me to see past all of his phobias. He is absolutely gorgeous. He likes to play bow with me. I've always called him "Rockie" - he's a goof!

NEW ROCKIE UPDATE! WEDNESDAY JULY 14TH 2010
We received word this evening from Teddy Palmer of Half Way Home that Nitro Rock On aka Rockie GOT ADOPTED TODAY! His new dad lives in Oregon and LOVES the shy kids! Rockie will also get a new brother, too, named Hubert! Wow! That was fast! We officially started sponsoring Rockie 3 days ago!
While we are EXTREMELY HAPPY Rockie got adopted, we are still kind of sad because we will probably never meet him in person. But, we wish Rockie a long, healthy, happy life with his new dad and brother!
Rock On Rockie!
Stay tuned though because we plan to sponsor another kid needing a home real soon! The Grandkids - Sadie (spokesperson), Linda, Destiny, Chelsey and Evelyn
Rockie Update:
We found out that Rockie is shy so he really needs someone that understands the shy ones to adopt him. Once he gets to know and trust you, he play bows to you! Isn't that cute? We tried to talk Grandma into adopting him but she said our house would not be a good place for a shy boy like Rockie to come to. Our house is way too active and too busy for him. It might scare him even more and we wouldn't want that. That would make us very sad.
If you are interested in adopting Rockie, have your local adoption group get in touch with Teddy Palmer with Half Way Home Greyhounds in Tulsa Oklahoma! We will be so happy when he gets adopted!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Skinner Grandkids Sponsorship!
It took the grandkids a whole entire day to decide who to sponsor. They went through many pages of dogs on the Half Way Home Greyhound Adoption (Tulsa Oklahoma) website, reading, discussing (with minimal argument I might add) with a lot of ooh's and aah's over all the dogs. I left them alone so they could make their own decision. When they were finished, the spokesperson and oldest of the grandkids (Sadie) came to me with their final decision.
All five of the grandkids here - Sadie 9, Linda 7, Destiny 4, Chelsey 3 and Evelyn 15m at the Greyhound Affair household chose handsome Nitro Rock On to sponsor. Apparently he won their hearts! All of them (with the exception of the youngest grandkid) will be doing extra chores to earn money to sponsor Nitro Rock On until he finds a nice group to go to or finds a loving forever home.
The grandkids have been thinking about sponsoring for a while now. They know they are too young to adopt and we are unable to adopt at the present. They all decided sponsoring would be a good thing to do to help out a Greyhound in some way. It teaches them that "giving to others" is a good thing and everyone should make an effort to help the animals, too.
The grandkids can't afford much because they work for a quarter here and fifty cents there depending on how hard the chore is, how long it takes them to do it and how well they complete the task. However, whatever they earn will go toward the care of Nitro Rock On.
Nitro Rock On is a very handsome boy! As the grandkids sponsor him, we will take some time in getting to know him via internet and will post what the grandkids find out right here!
The grandkids want to add an extra note: If you can't adopt right now, please consider sponsoring a dog who is up for adoption!
Thank you for opening your heart and helping.
I also wanted to encourage anyone who can't adopt right now to think about sponsoring a dog on Half Way Home's site or with a group that has sponsoring available for one of those "special" kids.
