Show Me Greyhounds (aka SMG throughout this application and adoption
contract) stipulates the following conditions to which ALL
adopters must adhere:
1. Your greyhound must always be kept on leash whenever it is outdoors,
unless in a totally fenced area.
2. An identification tag must be kept on your greyhound at all times with
name, address and phone number on it.
3. Your greyhound must be kept as an indoor pet except when getting walks
or exercise, or short periods in your yard. Your greyhound must never be
left outdoors and ignored or neglected.
4. Your greyhound must never be tied to anything. Greyhounds can harm
themselves trying to slip free of this type restraint.
5. Your greyhound has not been raised in a home environment (unless we
specify fostered) and you must
give him/her time and patience to adjust which can be up to 6 months to 1
year.
6. You will never discipline your greyhound by hitting him/her.
7. You agree to keep your greyhound current on all necessary shots and
will seek appropriate veterinary care when it is needed.
8. You agree to feed your greyhound daily an appropriate amount of food,
daily fresh water and at least 4 potty breaks a day if not more.
9. Your greyhound will be kept as a pet only and will not be used for
laboratory research, hunting, illegal racing or illegal fighting purposes.
10. If your greyhound gets loose or becomes missing for any reason, you
will notify Show Me Greyhounds Greyhound Adoption, your local police
department, and animal control immediately.
11. If for any reason, you decide you cannot keep your greyhound, you will
contact SMG Greyhound Adoption immediately so we can make arrangements for his/her
safe return to SMG Greyhound Adoption for placement into a new home as
soon as possible. You must
NEVER place your greyhound in a shelter or pound otherwise it will be
considered as a serious breach of contract.
12. You will allow a representative of SMG Greyhound Adoption to follow up
with phone calls and/or visits.
13. Once possession has been taken of the greyhound, SMG is not
responsible for any personal injury or physical property damage.
SMG GREYHOUND ADOPTION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION TO REPOSSESS ANY GREYHOUND NOT
BEING CARED FOR PROPERLY AS INDICATED BY, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE
CONDITIONS ABOVE.
By signing the application, you agree to a
scheduled home visit and an unscheduled surprise home visit.
By signing the application, you agree to at least 8 to 10 hours of hands
on in person training to get to know Greyhounds up front and personal.
Your signature below indicates that the information you have given us is
true to the best of your knowledge. This document will be considered a
legal and binding contract upon the adoption to you of a greyhound by SMG
Greyhound Adoption. Please allow up to 6 weeks for the review of
